Winter in Vermont is definitley not for everyone, and to be honest doing much of anything besides sitting by the fire in the Winter has never interested me much. This year I've been making an effort to go out and do more in Vermont. This past fall Kyle & I went on so many fun adventures that were all within an hour of home & cost little to nothing. This winter we've decided to embark on some more adventures.
These photos were taken down in Southern Vermont on Black Pond. The best part of this pond is that there was no one there- we were all alone and it was the most peaceful feeling in the world. As I stood on the end of the dock a flock of geese flew overhead honking and I just thought wow how lucky am I right now. There are those moments in life where you realize how you don't need much in the world to feel truly happy and at peace. There I was on a dock- in the middle of nowhere- with no cell service and 20-degree weather and I was truly madly happy. It was a much needed moment of clarity for me.
In this world of internet and technology, I find myself getting caught up in all of these things and not living in the moment- or I allow things on the internet to bother me and affect me or determine my happiness, and that's not how it should be. It's important to stop once in a while and shut everything off and get back to what brings you happiness in life, whether that be a quiet day at home with your family, baking cookies or standing on a dock in the cold winter. These moments ground us and bring us back to what matters most.
I encourage you to find a day sometime soon to explore, relax, laugh, and smile.
XO,
Nicholle
What beautiful thoughts! It is definitely a decision to try and find contentment in each day and situation, but a worthwhile one. :) (And stay warm out there, brrrrrrr!!)
