Affordable Deck Decor

Hi All!
I'm so excited to be sharing our outdoor space with you today! We recently had a deck built in our backyard and it turned out better than I could have hoped! Prior to the deck, we had some concrete steps and a 5-foot wide concrete walkway- not very cute at all, and definitely not a usable outdoor space. My hope for this deck was to extend our living space and to create an area where we could enjoy the summer months in Vermont.

We ended up building a 12 by 12 deck with these beautiful black metal balusters. We debated back and forth about spending the extra money on the balusters, as the wooden ones were only 98 cents a piece and the metal ones were quite a bit more. Ultimately we decided to go for the metal ones as we wanted it to be a space we truly loved! After seeing the metal balusters installed I am so glad I went with them. Kyle and I ambitiously decided to stain the deck at 9pm one Sunday night and I love the color of it- if I remember correctly the stain is in the color Jacobean which is this beautiful rich brown- exactly what I was looking for!

Decor //
In full disclosure I began shopping for deck decor before the deck was even built (HA!), Kyle wasn't too thrilled when I had an entire outdoor furniture set and nowhere to put it, but it all worked out! My first purchase was this beautiful black and grey couch that is actually a day bed- it folds fully flat which I'm very excited about. It will be perfect for star gazing and outdoor movies. Next, I purchased a braided outdoor rug to make the space feel cozier. Rugs USA always has amazing sales so I ended up getting it for 60% off- such a great deal! I knew I wanted some additional seating so I purchased this metal and wood bench which comfortably sits three people. The last thing I was missing was a side table for the couch which I searched high and low for! It was so hard to find a table that matched the vibe of the bench and couch. I ended up finding this concrete and metal one at Pier 1 this past weekend which is also where the outdoor pillows are from and they're all on major sale.
Picnic Space //
In addition to the deck, I wanted an outdoor dining area. There wasn't any more room on the deck so I decided to purchase a picnic table. We stained the picnic table to match the deck and I think it helped to make everything feel like one cohesive outdoor space. I put 4 place settings on the table as well as a few little accessories to help it feel more welcoming and less like a typical picnic table. We had our first fire of the Summer over the weekend and I put together this cute little s' mores tray.
I'm linking all of the items featured below. Let me know if you have any questions!
