New Beauty Products

Hi All! I'm back from my little Christmas Vaca I took. As a teacher, I get off through the second of January but I decided to take a little mini-break from the blog to celebrate Christmas with my family! Today I want to share with you some of my favorite beauty products I received this Christmas.

I've been wanting this curling wand for awhile so I was super excited to open it on Christmas! So far I love this wand- what I like most about it is that it curls my hair really fast- you don't have to hold the hair on for long so overall I can curl my hair faster. It also somehow magically makes my curls last forever- I can sleep on them & brush them and they still spring right back into place!

Clinique // Happy Perfume
I'm always on the hunt for new perfumes and this is one of my tried and true favorites. This is what you would call an every day or signature scent. It's not too strong and gives you a light citrusy scent with a hint of floral. This set includes a full-size bottle- a mini spray which is perfect for your bag & hand cream which I love to leave on my desk. A great deal for all three items!

My Best Friend Molly actually got me this palette for Christmas. Every year she gifts me a new beauty product & this year she decided on this limited edition Nars palette. I love that it's the perfect mix of neutrals & 'fun' shades. I definitely gravitate to more basic colors so this palette is perfect for me. The colors blend out seamlessly and have great payoff. The color of the shadows in this photo is true to the shades- I think the photos on most websites of this palette are a little deceiving.

What was your favorite beauty product you received this holiday season? Or are there any you have your eye on? Let me know!

Thursday Thoughts

THIS lip product is so good. It's very hydrating & provides a naturally flushed lip color. I've been loving it.

Hi all & Happy Thursday!

I've missed a few of these posts as I've had other posts go up on Thursday's recently so I'm excited to get back into the swing of things. This will be one of my last Thursday Thoughts of 2017 which is so crazy! This year truly flew by!

Things I did this week //

* Finished up my Christmas Shopping- I've had most of it complete for a while now but I always seem to leave so many loose ends such as picking up gift cards or stocking stuffers. Let me tell you it is not fun to be out shopping 4 days before Christmas- People are not very Holly Jolly!

* Wrapped up teaching until after the New Year! One of the major perks of being a Teacher is the school vacations. I have 10 days off to relax and enjoy family time! I'm so looking forward to it!

*Hair Cut- My hair got to a point where it would get soo tangled I wanted to chop it all off- It just needed a fresh cut!

Things I'm doing this weekend //

*Saturday Manicure- Thank goodness! The winter destroys my hands- no matter how much lotion I apply my cuticles end up looking not so cute.

*Wrapping gifts- Everything will be purchased and or arrive at my door by Saturday so I will have some wrapping to do! Which is fine with me as long as I have hot chocolate and Christmas Movies!

*Christmas Eve! Can you believe Christmas is here!! I can't! Every Christmas Eve I go to mass with my Mom, Grandma, and the past few years Kyle. I love this tradition as it really puts me in the right mindset for the Holidays. Christmas Eve Mass is such a joyful time, I love seeing all the smiling families piling into the pews at the church.

*Christmas! Which is technically next week and not this coming weekend but I'm just so excited! I always spend Christmas Morning at my parent's house opening gifts with my Sister. We also have A Christmas Story playing on the television all day! I love this day & especially love all the yummy food & family time.

What are your plans for the holiday? Let me know!

Winter in Vermont

Winter in Vermont is definitley not for everyone, and to be honest doing much of anything besides sitting by the fire in the Winter has never interested me much. This year I've been making an effort to go out and do more in Vermont. This past fall Kyle & I went on so many fun adventures that were all within an hour of home & cost little to nothing. This winter we've decided to embark on some more adventures.

These photos were taken down in Southern Vermont on Black Pond. The best part of this pond is that there was no one there- we were all alone and it was the most peaceful feeling in the world. As I stood on the end of the dock a flock of geese flew overhead honking and I just thought wow how lucky am I right now. There are those moments in life where you realize how you don't need much in the world to feel truly happy and at peace. There I was on a dock- in the middle of nowhere- with no cell service and 20-degree weather and I was truly madly happy. It was a much needed moment of clarity for me.

In this world of internet and technology, I find myself getting caught up in all of these things and not living in the moment- or I allow things on the internet to bother me and affect me or determine my happiness, and that's not how it should be. It's important to stop once in a while and shut everything off and get back to what brings you happiness in life, whether that be a quiet day at home with your family, baking cookies or standing on a dock in the cold winter. These moments ground us and bring us back to what matters most.

I encourage you to find a day sometime soon to explore, relax, laugh, and smile.

Nicholle

DIY Christmas Centerpiece

Can you believe Christmas is just a week away?! I can't believe how fast these past two months have gone. Today I wanted to share with you an easy DIY centerpiece that you can make with materials you probably already own!

First I gathered supplies to create the centerpiece- I used some fake tree branches, pinecones, leftover ornaments, candle holders & tea lights. These were all items I had around my house & in my Christmas boxes

Next, I placed down my tree branches- I cut the stems off and placed them together to create a fuller looking bundle. I secured the branches together using floral wire. Another great option for this would be garland!

I then placed the pinecones onto the branches- start with whatever material is largest- so if you're using big ornaments start by laying those out first. Make sure you are nestling the items into the branches so it doesn't look like they're just sitting on top.

I then added my ornaments & some decorative pinecone picks- these were ones I had leftover in my decoration box- you could even add in cute little figurine ornaments or different floral picks. To make the centerpiece more secure you can fasten the items with the floral wire ono the branches.

Finally, I placed some decorative tealight holders I had recently spray painted silver into the branches. These added a nice focal point and taller element into the piece. I placed some glitter tea lights I had left over into the holders.

Let me know if you recreate this! I'd love to see.

Blush Pink Puffer Vest

I feel like Blush Pink is the "it" color this year! I couldn't resist this blush pink vest for the price! It's super cozy and lined with fleece so it's perfect for the cold Vermont Weather. I'm also loving henley shirts lately- I have this one in a few colors & I love how it fits. It's perfect for throwing on to run errands or lounge around the house. I'll be honest that I love to wear my Uggs all the time- the classic short is my favorite style, it really is like wearing slippers all day! This outfit would be perfect for any casual outings you have planned- or some last minute Christmas shopping! I need to go wrap some more gifts now- I'll be posting a fun holiday centerpiece DIY later this week so look out for that!

Sherpa Vest

Happy Monday!
There's only a couple of weeks left before Christmas! Can you believe it?! Today I wanted to share this comfy outfit I wore out Christmas Shopping the other day. This flannel comes in a few other colors & is currently on sale. I love wearing flannels during the winter months because they're festive & comfy. I like to pair them with a vest or cute accessories so it doesn't look "frumpy". This sherpa vest is the perfect one to pair with a flannel! I think there's a fine line when wearing flannels of what looks put together and what looks like you just awoke from a nap! To finish off this outfit I wore one of my favorite pair of boots - these have a good tread on the bottom and are perfect for walking around in as they're comfortable & flat.

Hope you've enjoyed!
