Thursday Thoughts

Things I did this week //

* I tried out Magnetic Eyelashes! I loved them- check out my full review HERE , they're great if you've never tried false lashes!

* Watched the new Jumanji movie. Have any of you seen it? I thought it was pretty funny!

* Received the best PR package from Pixi Beauty . There are so many products I can't wait to test out. Have you used any Pixi products?

Things I'm doing this weekend //

* Saturday Mani- What color should I get? I always have a hard time picking a Spring color! It's finally starting to warm up here so I'm thinking something light & bright.

* I want to pick up some plants for our house! Do any of you have any houseplants that are low maintenance?

* Cooking! Now that I'm older & Kyle and I head to my parents on Easter I like to make some things to bring over. This year I'm making my favorite spinach dip served with fresh sourdough bread from the local bakery, and a lemon cheesecake- YUM!

* Easter Sunday- Does your family have any traditions? Every Easter morning we've always had a Jelly Bean hunt in our house. Living in Vermont it was usually too cold to go outside to look for eggs so my parents would always hide jelly beans around the house- they still do it, you're never too old for candy!

What are your plans for the Holiday Weekend?

Magnetic Eyelash Review

This past weekend I went on a girls trip to NY with my Mom & did some serious shopping! While there we perused the aisles of Ulta and came across these magnetic strip lashes and decided we needed to purchase them ASAP. The sales associate at the checkout told us that these lashes have been flying off the shelf & we were lucky there were still some left!

I purchased the Ardell Magnetic Lash Accent, this set is not a full strip and is meant to enhance the outer portion of your eye. I loved this as it didn't feel as heavy as a typical full strip lash, this was also much easier for me to apply as it can get tricky to properly apply the lash near the inner corner.
These lashes cost just under $15 dollars and are able to be reused- So far I have worn them 3 times with no problems- the magnets continue to work.
To use these lashes you essentially sandwich your eyelashes between the top and bottom false lashes and the magnets keep them securely in place. Prior to using these, I thought there was no way these could actually work- but they do! And they work really well!
In the past, I have tried to apply false lashes with the typical lash glue and I could never get it to work-I tried so many times! These are great if you are a beginner as they are pretty fool proof- If I could do it so can you! Below are some before and after pictures- notice that the lash band is barely noticeable!

Before //
After //

One tip I do have for wearing these lashes is to line your upper water line with a black gel liner as well as your eyelid- this helps the lash band to blend in!

Have you tried false lashes or magnetic lash strips? Let me know!

Nicholle

Thursday Thoughts

Things I did this week //

 * Binge watched The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt - I can't stop watching this show! The first episode was absolutely terrible so I'm glad I pushed past that. This is such an easy show to watch without having to really pay attention.

* Added planking into my workout routine- which you're probably thinking "okay??" , but I read that planking can really help to strengthen and tone your core so it's worth a shot! I could only hold a plank Today for less than a minute- my goal is to be able to hold a 2-minute plank. Do any of you do this as part of your exercise routine!?

* Made a new recipe- Buffalo Chicken Tacos - Kyle loves anything Buffalo flavored so these were a hit with him! (and super easy)

* Tried a self-tanner that made me orange and streaky- it was terrible!! I'm suffering through all of these terrible tanners so I can share with you the best ones! Does anyone have a self-tanner they recommend?

Things I'm doing this weekend //

* I'm headed to New York this weekend with my Mom and I'm so excited! We do a girls trip every few months to do some shopping and spend time together- anyone else love girl time with their Mom!?

* Eating at Cheesecake Factory- If I had to pick a favorite chain restaurant this would definitely be it! They have the best food and this delicious peach bellini drink- yum! I'm also looking forward to fresh Italian pastries - Vermont really deprives me of these things!

* I want to rent Jumanji! Has anyone seen the new one? Is it good?! Let me know

What are your plans for the weekend?

Frequently Asked Questions

Hi All! I've been receiving a lot of questions lately on my Instagram and through emails so I thought I would answer some of the most common questions Today!

What grade do you teach? //
I teach First Grade in Vermont. This is probably my favorite grade to teach. They are full of so much excitement for learning at 6 years old that it makes my job so fun. I also love to read Children's books and this age group enjoys read alouds.

How old are you? //
I am 23 years old. I was always the youngest in my class so most of my friends are almost a year older than me!

What camera do you use? Who takes your pictures? //
All of my images are taken with a Nikon D3300 using a 35mm 1.8 lens. My Boyfriend Kyle works as a photographer as well as Real Estate agent so he takes all of my pictures- I'm lucky!

What size do you wear? //
I wear a size small in tops and bottoms and a size 0 or 25 in denim. Sometimes I will size up to mediums in tops as I don't like my clothes very tight fitting. I always size up to a 26 in shorts- they are much more flattering when they have a looser fit!

Where do you get your nails done? //
I get my nails done at Bella Vie Nail Spa in Williston, Vermont. I can't recommend this place enough! So clean and great service.

Any TV show recommendations? //
I'm currently watching Imposters which is a Bravo show- they have the first season on Netflix and it's so good! I'm hooked. I also started watching The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt- very funny!

Where is the best place to buy designer denim? //
I like to shop for high-end denim at Nordstrom Rack. They always have the best selection of the most current styles.

Where do you get your hair done? //
I get my hair done by Savannah at Lavish Hair Studio, you can contact her at 802-310-8681. She has been doing my hair now for 3 years after a botched coloring job, I will never go to anyone else!

Let me know if you have any other questions!

Straw Accessories for Spring

Straw has been popping up everywhere this year and the perfect time to try out this trend is with your accessories this Spring! I've put together some of my favorite accessories that won't break the bank. I remember years back when straw totes were in- they were gigantic, you could seriously fit a small TV in them! This year straw bags are coming back in styles such as small crossbody and clutches. I'd encourage you not to spend too much on these pieces as straw doesn't hold up the best- no matter how much you pay for it. Check out my picks below! To shop the items just click the images below the collage.

Thursday Thoughts

Happy Thursday & almost weekend! I hope you all had a great week!

Things I did this week //

* I had a three day work week because we had a surprise snow day on Wednesday and an in-service Friday. The week goes by really fast when there are only three days with students! If you're a teacher you know it can get kinda tough constantly having missed school days- we still have the same amount of curriculum to teach, just in less time.

* Reorganized my kitchen cabinets so now I have room for all of my snacks in one of them! It was stressing me out having all my granola bars and trail mix sitting on my counter.

* Made a list of items to purchase for this Spring & my upcoming Vacation. Does anyone else love to make lists? I have an ongoing list of things on my phone that I either want or need. I'm really in need of some cute spring pants! I'm thinking some ankle length pants would be perfect.

Things I'm doing this weekend //

* Saturday Mani! This past time I got an OPI gel color and it has lasted SO well. I'd been using Essie gel polish prior and kept having issues with it peeling up on the edges. If you're looking for a great gel polish definitely try OPI.

* Perusing the bookstore for a new read aloud for my classroom. Part of the reason I love teaching first grade is because I love the stories I get to read to my class. Do you have any books you remember loving when you were younger? Let me know!
What are your plans for the weekend? Anything fun?!

Things To Do in Nashville, Tennessee

Hi All!
I thought it would be fun and helpful to share with you some of my favorite things we did in Nashville.  We were there for 5 days and that was the perfect amount of times. Nashville would even be a fun place to visit for a long weekend!

Check out the street art! //
There are so many murals and artwork throughout the city of Nashville. You can spend time with a cup of coffee in your hand and explore all of the different walls of art! Some of them make for a pretty good photo op.

Country Music Hall of Fame //
We had a rainy day in Nashville and thought it would be the perfect time to check out of the Hall of Fame. The cost of this Museum is around $25 a person. We loved walking around here and reading all of the information about past and present Country stars. My favorite exhibit was the Shania Twain one! They had all of her old outfits she used to perform in- I loved her growing up so this was really fun for me to see. I will say the one downfall was that since we went on a weekday there was a school there on a field trip- so we had to dodge around groups of kids. Other than that it was a really fun time!

Explore the stores //
There were so many great shopping areas throughout Nashville. For souvenirs or 'touristy' stores stick to the shops right on Broadway. If you're looking for more upscale shopping the areas of 12 South and Hillsboro have some cute boutiques and restaurants! I loved grabbing a coffee at the Frothy Monkey and wandering into the cutest store called Moda next door!

Check out Broadway //
Broadway is the street in Nashville where all the fun happens! The street is lined with bars and shops that are full of SO much life! Every bar we walked past had live music blasting and it was amazing how much talent these people had! I loved popping into bars to see the next up & coming stars. You could easily spend your entire day and night just on this street. Many of the bars also have rooftop areas that are so fun!

The Grand Ole Opry //
This was probably my favorite thing we did while in Nashville! We saw Easton Corbin perform and it was just so amazing to see live music at this venue. I can't imagine living close to a place like this and having the opportunity to see shows there every week. The tickets were under $100 and completely worth it. We sat up in the balcony and had the best view. I highly recommend adding this to your to-do list!

EAT! //
I love trying new restaurants and Nashville has some of the best I've ever been to! I did a full POST on my favorite places we ate. Be sure to check it out!

I hope this post was helpful!

Vacation Must Haves

Hi All & Happy Sunday!

With all the snow we've been getting in Vermont I've been dreaming of warm beach days. Kyle & I are headed back to Siesta Key this April so I'll be doing some shopping for beach & vacation items. I've started to do some online shopping & I thought I would share with you some of the cute items I've found! All of these are at great prices points and the perfect items to add to your suitcase!

I love the color of this! At under $50 this is a great find! The ruffle detail makes it not so plain.
I love the idea of tying a little scarf around my neck or purse! A fun, simple accessory.
This is such a fun print! You could get matching bottoms or pair it with a plain pair.
I love these! They just scream vacation! I'd pair them with white denim!
At $14 dollars you can't go wrong with these! So cute.
I love these for spring & vacation! Imagine them paired with light wash denim & a white top!
7 // Straw Hat
A beach essential! I have several straw hats I love.
This would be so cute paired with cut off shorts & sandals!

Nicholle

Thursday Thoughts

Things I did this week //

* Tried to get back into a normal routine after being away on Vacation! It felt so nice to cook dinner at home and just relax. I've also been trying to catch up on all of my laundry...which we all know I struggle with!

* Had a three day school week! (woohoo) Our February vacation went all the way until March 6th which meant I didn't have to teach until Wednesday. Work is a lot easier when it's only 3 days!

* Booked our Spring Vacation! We are headed back to Siesta Key as well as DISNEY! All thanks to the wonderful Influencer Team at Walt Disney World! I'm so excited to share all of my adventures at Disney with all of you! What's your favorite ride there?

What I'm doing this weekend //

* With Vacation being last week I'm taking this weekend to relax! I need to vacuum, buy some new bed pillows and organize my fridge- Really exciting, I know!

* Decluttering my Linen Closet- I think I have 15 extra towels and 10 random pillow shams, all they do is take up space so I need to clean them out! Do you have a cluttered closet in your house?

* Getting brunch at Skinny Pancake with Annaliese! Who is unfortunately for me, moving to Virginia to continue her career in Radio. So if you live in Charlottesville, VA keep your ear out for her!

What are your weekend plans? Let me know!

Nicholle

Everyday Outfit

Hi All & Happy Tuesday!
As most of you know Kyle & I just got back from a trip to Nashville, Tennessee. Prior to traveling, I knew I wanted to find a bag that would double both as a purse and as a backpack, and I'm happy to share I found the perfect bag! This all-leather backpack comes in at under $100 dollars so it doesn't break the bank yet has great quality. This backpack was perfect for using on the airplane as well as exploring Nashville. I loved the size of it as it fits all of my essentials plus some. The design of the backpack allows you to move the straps to wear it as a purse or take the straps off completely and carry it by the top handle.
For our first day of exploring I paired my backpack with an all-black outfit including my favorite cropped jeans (currently on sale)! These are extremely flattering and give your body some nice curves, they are also great for transitioning from winter to spring. For a top, I wore a graphic tee as it felt very "Nashville" to me. In this city, there was a lot of distressed denim & t-shirts so I fit right in! Overall I loved the style of this city, very cool and casual. If you're traveling to Nashville soon this would be the perfect outfit to pack, and if you're not this would be a great outfit for any weekend errands or brunch dates!

Places to Eat in Nashville, Tennessee

Kyle & I just got back from our trip to Nashville so I thought it would be the perfect time for me to write up all of our favorite food spots! There are SO many good restaurants in Nashville I wish we could have tried more!

The sweetest all-day coffee shop located in 12 South. It looks small from the outside but it's actually quite spacious once you walk in! The perfect place to cozy up with a drink or sit out on the porch on a beautiful Tennessee day!
What to Order:
Cold brew coffee with vanilla flavor + cream // YUM

The South is known for its biscuits and this breakfast spot doesn't disappoint! I loved the cool vibe inside the restaurant as well as the many entree options with biscuits. Get there early as the line can go out the door! You order up at the counter prior to finding a seat. We arrived both times we went around 8:30am and had no issues with lines or waiting.
What to Order:
Sausage, egg & cheese on a biscuit // ' Lily': Biscuit french toast, lemon mascarpone, blueberry compote & house syrup (my favorite!)

Another great breakfast spot! This restaurant is pretty large and a great place to bring a family. They had freshly made baked goods available and a coffee bar if you aren't looking to sit down for a full meal.
What to Order:
Freshly baked biscuit with honey & strawberry preserves (SO good) // Sausage, egg and cheese with hashbrowns

If you don't live in the South then visiting Krispy Kreme is a must! I was so excited to wake up & walk across the street for fresh donuts!
What to Order:
Original glazed donut, Chocolate frosted cream-filled donut, Large hot coffee

I had hands down the best burger I've ever had at this restaurant! It was incredible- so much flavor and cooked perfectly! To top things off the prices here were great- I think it was around 11 dollars for a burger and fries.
What to Order:
A flight of beer, Fried pickles & peppers, The 96 burger with truffle tots (trust me!)

Before we went to Nashville I did some research and everyone said we HAD to go to Hattie B's & they were right! It's definitely more of a fast food type atmosphere than a sit-down restaurant. You order up at the counter and then find a table- since it was nice out the porch was open so we grabbed a picnic table. It is pretty small in there so it can seem very "busy".  You can also order to-go or call in for pickup.
What to Order:
Hot Chicken Sandwich with Mac and Cheese- the chicken is incredible! I got the 'hot' sauce and it was quite spicy! Next time I would probably get the medium heat.

This was probably my favorite restaurant overall that we went to. The service was great and the food was even better. The tacos were between 2-3 dollars each and had very fresh ingredients.
What to Order:
Salsa & Guac, Chicken taco, Carnitas taco, Baja fish taco, Crispy rock shrimp taco (my fave!), Grilled Corn

This was Kyles favorite restaurant! It would be a good place to go with a group as they have a very large space and big picnic-style tables. This restaurant like the others you order at the counter and then find a seat- this seemed to be a theme throughout Nashville! The food came out fast and was absolutely delicious! When we left we smelled like smoked meats so keep that in mind!
What to Order:
Big Momma Sampler: feeds (2-3), 4 bones, 6oz pork, 6oz brisket,  choice of 3 sides ( I suggest mac and cheese, baked beans, and fries!)

This was a fun place for dessert! The dough tastes exactly like the cookie dough you would use to bake.
What to Order:
Chocolate chip cookie dough & Sugar cookie dough

Hope you've enjoyed!

Nicholle
