Our Engagement Photos

Hi All & Happy Sunday!
I wanted to share with you some of our engagement pictures! We just got them all back this week and I'm SO happy with how they turned out. They feel very "us". I'm planning on making save the dates as well as wedding invites using a few of the photos. We received over 70 images from our photographer so these are just a few.

Vermont Fall Weekend

Stowe, Vermont

Hi All!
Fall is in full swing here in Vermont! Every year Kyle & I like to do the typical "tourist" things during this season. This past weekend we headed to the Cold Hollow Cider Mill & drove through Stowe to see all of the foliage.  We love to just drive around and explore so some of these photos are from back roads up in the mountains.

Apple Picking & Meet Penelope!

Hi All!
It's been a crazy couple of weeks- If you follow me over on Instagram you would know that Kyle & I got a puppy! She is the cutest little chunk and I'm so in love with her, I hate leaving her precious little face in the mornings to head to work.

5 Current Home Favorites

Hi All!
With Fall just around the corner, I've been spending more time at home. I thought it would be fun to share 5 "home" items I've been loving lately!

My best friend got me a Nespresso machine for my birthday and it's life changing! I love coffee and always make a cup in the mornings using my Keurig. I would only drink lattes if I ordered them at places like Starbucks but I found them to be too sugary. The Nespresso is very similar to a Keurig in that you just put a pod in the machine, press the button and you have a fresh cup of espresso. I also love the milk frother that the machine comes with. I like to froth half & half and pour it on top of my espresso. It's so delicious! My favorite flavors are any of the ones below a level 6- the espresso pods are rated by intensity and I prefer a lighter roast. This is the perfect item for cozy fall days at home.

My Mom bought me one of these mugs a few months back and now I'm obsessed with them. I have them in 6 different colors. I love the size of these mugs and the quality of them. They're the perfect size for a cup of coffee and as an added plus they look super cute. If you're a coffee drinker you know how important it is to have the perfect mug!

I love making cheese boards for an appetizer & part of the fun is the presentation of them! This wooden one is the perfect size to add all of the essentials. I add a hard cheese, a soft cheese, 2 types of crackers, olives, a fruit like grapes and guac with chips. That's my go-to combination. I also love to use the cheese board as a centerpiece both on my coffee table & dining area. It's perfect for a fall table!

We had been on the hunt for the perfect lamp for our living room for a while and I stumbled upon this one and thought it was perfect! I love the gold detail and the fun edison light bulb. It's the perfect lamp to place near a chair, couch, or desk as it angles down.

I love this pillow! I think it's such a fun way to add a personal touch to your home without being over the top. This would make a great housewarming gift! You can get them personalized with any area code you want. Of course, the Vermont area code is 802 & it's in a pretty green shade.

I hope you've enjoyed this post!

Nicholle

Thursday Thoughts

Things I did this week //
* Started to setup my classroom for the school year. My room had the old carpet ripped out of it and new tile put in so everything had to be cleared out of the room- that left me at square one with an empty room so it's taken quite some time to get things in order. I even had Kyle come help me one day- hanging up bulletin boards is a two person task!  I'm excited for the start of school in just a few short weeks!

* Melted!! Just kidding- but really it's been over 90 degrees here this week and for a Vermont girl that is HOT, so hot in fact we had to go buy another air conditioner for our house because we couldn't stand the heat and humidity.

* Made so many milkshakes. Over the past few weeks I've been experimenting with making different types of milkshakes topped with homemade whipped cream. It's seriously to die for. My favorite one so far is fresh strawberry milkshakes. Kyle loved the cookies and cream milkshake.

* Gardening! Since we've bought a home I've loved starting my own garden. I've planted peppers, tomatoes, basil, parsley, and mint so far and they've all done great! Its so fun to go outside and pick fresh herbs for our dinners- especially the basil.

Things I'm doing this weekend //

* Kyle & I are headed to Maine with my family at the end of the week. We are so excited to get away and just relax. Our life has been non stop crazy since we bought our house in May so this getaway is much needed. We've been going to Maine every summer since I was a little girl so I always look forward to this trip. Make sure you're following me on Instagram to see what I'm up to!

* My Birthday! I turn 24 this coming Monday so we will be celebrating that. I'm not too sure what we will do, all I've requested is a large Costco cake- my favorite!

Have you been up to anything fun lately?! Let me know!

Home Tour

Hi All!
I realized I never did a formal "tour" of our new home on the blog so I thought I would snap some photos after our cleaner came the other day. I know what you're thinking- why do you have a cleaner!? She comes once a month to deep clean our home such as mopping the floors and scrubbing the shower- it's Kyle's little gift to me and I love it! We've been in our home for about 2 months now and are loving it. Of course no room is completely "done" but it's starting to really feel like our little nest. We're planning on doing a few upgrades in the future but this is where we are at right now!

SAS Shoes

STYLE MADE EASY
"We Understand How Frustrating It Can Be To Make The Seemingly Impossible Choice Between Comfort And Style. With SAS, This Is One Less Choice You Have To Make"
Raise your hand if you hate uncomfortable shoes! I can't even count the number of times I've gotten blisters from wearing the most painful shoes just because they're cute- well look no further for the perfect solution! SAS shoes are both comfy & cute! I'm wearing the SAS Marnie Sneakers in Sky Sparkle in the photos below. What I love about these is that they're practical and they pair well with a lot of my wardrobe. As a Teacher, I'm up on my feet all day so comfy shoes are essential- these give my feet the perfect amount of cushion and support while still looking cute. I paired these shoes with white denim and a striped top to run some errands this weekend, I loved the pop of blue the sneakers gave my outfit! To shop my exact sneaks click HERE.

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2018

Hi All!
Welcome to one of the best sales of the year- the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! (NSale) This sale is a great time of year to pick up all of your must-haves for the coming Fall season. If you are a Nordstrom Cardholder you can shop the early access sale from now (July 12th) through July 19th at which point the sale will open to the general public. Items sell fast so if you're eyeing something I would suggest purchasing it.  All items that are featured in this sale are brand new and will be discounted for a limited time and then will go back up to full price. During the sale in years past I've purchased items such as watches, booties, and denim- all heavily discounted. Below I'm linking 25 of my favorite pieces from the sale so far. Yellow Summer Top

Hi All! I feel like I haven't done an outfit post in forever! Lately, I've been on the hunt for affordable pieces to add to my wardrobe for Summer. As you know I live in Vermont so the warm weather doesn't stay around long,  I don't like to invest too much into clothing I can only wear a few times. This top is so comfy, fits well, and is under $15! It is the perfect Summer top! I ordered this top in a small and it fits well, I will say if you are larger chested I would size up. Also, note that it is a bit cropped in the front, I wore it with high waisted white jeans in this photo.

Summer Loving

Summer is in full swing here in Vermont! It's been in the high 90's these past few days and it is brutal! I think my ideal temperature is somewhere between 72 and 77, the 90's are a bit much for me! I thought it would be fun to put together some of my favorite summer pieces that are available right now! Some I've purchased and some I'm eyeing.

Around The House

Hi All!
I've been getting so many messages about our home ever since we moved in. I thought it would be fun to start a new series on the blog called Around The House. In these posts, you can expect to see home decor, recent home purchases and styling updates for different rooms. For this first post, I'm going to share some pictures of our living and dining area right now. We recently got a new rug & painted our fireplace

I've been trying to keep our home very light & bright. The linen curtains in our living room help to really brighten the space up. I love that they let light in yet still provide us with some privacy. Prior to owning a home, I didn't know how difficult it was to find curtain panels! These took me almost a month to find!

Affordable Home Update

Hi All!

As you know Kyle & I just closed on our house a few weeks ago! We unpacked everything within the first two days and are now moving on to little updates and projects around the house. I wanted to start with something that would make a noticeable difference but wouldn't cost a lot. I decided to tackle changing some of the hardware throughout the home. I love the mid-century modern look with clean lines and a brushed brass finish, I found some beautiful hardware at Lowe's and decided to see where I could incorporate it into my home. At under $5 a handle, this was a very affordable project. I changed the hardware on our pantry, our new TV console as well as an antique dresser I had refinished a few years back. These new handles make such a difference! I love the cool look it gave to my furniture pieces- they feel just my style and very updated.
If you have any furniture around your home see if you could update it by changing the hardware. Another place you could update your hardware is in your kitchen. Changing cabinet pulls will make it look like you installed completely new cabinets!
I'm linking the exact drawer pulls I purchased for you- They come in the smaller size as well as the longer.

Life Update

Hi All!

If you follow me on Instagram and here on my blog you might have been wondering where the heck I've been the past few months. My posts have been pretty sporadic & I'm sorry for that BUT something very exciting has been in the works!...

Kyle & I bought a house!
We've been busy packing up everything in our condo from the past 3 years! (I can't believe its been 3 years living there)
We just closed on it this morning and we couldn't be more excited about this new chapter in our life. I never thought at 23 I'd be purchasing a home, I feel so incredibly lucky and thankful. As you're reading this we're probably packing up our moving truck & heading to the new house!

This whole thing came so unexpectedly- My mom and I were actually getting our nails done one Saturday in April and we were chatting and she asked if I had seen a home that was listed in our area (she had seen pictures on facebook), I told her I had seen it and loved it and she asked me why I wasn't buying it. Next thing you know we were leaving our nail appointment and going to look at the house! We wrote an offer an hour later and it was accepted that night. Mind you Kyle & I hadn't met with a lender yet, which is something you should definitely do prior to looking at homes, so our offer was contingent on financing which thank goodness all worked out. I also should mention that Kyle is a realtor so that's probably why this all worked out so well! I'm not sure I'd be very helpful with tips on buying a home as it was such a whirlwind buying this one!

I'm so excited to share this new journey of home ownership with you all! I'm sure there will be many home posts to come. I already have so many plans!

Special shoutout to our family for all of their love & help through all of this!

Nicholle

Thursday Thoughts

Things I did this week //

* Jury Duty- Fun right!? I had to sit in a room for 8 hours!! And there were no windows- and of course, there were the criminals that they were selecting the Juries for- yikes!. Luckily I didn't get chosen to be on any of the Juries. It was Criminal Court and the cases were not pleasant, to say the least!

* Guess what my student brought to school in his backpack??? Any guesses? What would a 6-year-old boy pack for school? Toys? Candy? An iPod? Nope! BABY BUNNIES. I kid you not he packed 3 baby bunnies he found in his yard in the front pocket of his backpack. I can't make this stuff up people! Welcome to First Grade. Could you imagine being the parent who gets the call asking them to please come pick up the bunnies their child brought to school!? These kids always keep me laughing!

* Enjoyed the beautiful weather here in Vermont! It feels like we completely skipped Spring and headed straight into Summer! Definitely not complaining- it was 80 degrees a few days! I've been enjoying nightly walks which is one of my favorite things to do in nicer weather.

Things I'm doing this weekend //

* Manicure! Which I desperately need. Last time I got my nails done I didn't get them cut down and now I feel like I can't do anything since they're so long! I love the way long nails look but I can't seem to function with them.

* It's going to be rainy so I'm definitely going to take the opportunity to relax! With the end of the school year coming I feel like everything has been going 900 mph. Too fast! I need some R&R.

* Celebrating Mother's Day! I picked up a few sweet items I know my Mom will love! Which I can't tell you because she reads all of my blog posts- and corrects all of my mistakes! HA! Love you, Mom!

What are your weekend plans!?

Nicholle

Easy Beach Outfit

How cute are these shorts!? I couldn't resist buying them when I saw them in the store! I love that they're 'short' but not too short. I did size up in them as I find shorts more flattering when they're not skin tight. I also love the button fly on them- it adds a fun detail to an otherwise plain look. I paired the shorts with my favorite basic white tank and a cute wrapped headband. Wearing your hair in a style like this is great for the beach as it looks cute & keeps your hair off your face.

Thursday Thoughts

Happy Thursday! I've been so busy lately I feel like I haven't done one of these posts in a while!

Things I did this week //

* Tried to get back into the swing of waking up early! After a week-long beach vacation, its tough to hear my alarm go off at 5:30 am. The good news is Summer Vacation is only 7 weeks away! Can you believe it!?

* Enjoyed some time outside! The weather has finally turned to Spring here in VT! We even got one day over 85 degrees!! Such a nice gift. My students were all asking if we could learn outside all day- I was tempted to say yes!

* Made the most delicious Shrimp Tacos- I didn't really follow any particular recipe. I cooked my shrimp in blackened seasoning and then had some lettuce, pico, guac,  and chipotle mayo in a soft shell- SO good.

Things I'm doing this weekend //

* Hopefully relaxing- does anyone else feel like they need a vacation from their vacation when they get home!? I've been exhausted and feel like I have so much to do! Such as laundry- ugh!

* The weather is supposed to be gorgeous on Saturday so I think I'll head to the local nurseries to see the flower options! I really want to plant some more flowers this year.  Last year I only planted a few in pots & this year I want to get some into the actual ground!

* I reallllly need to get some things in order #adulting - I looked behind our chaise lounge chair the other day and found a stack of important papers- yikes! I'm trying to go through all of the papers around our house and get things organized! I even bought cute folders to motivate me.

What are your plans for the weekend?

Button Front Dress

Happy May 1st!
Can you believe it's already May!? I can't. On a different note
how cute is this dress!? At under $30 you really can't go wrong! I picked this up in the store last month and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of material- it feels more like a thick canvas vs a normal cotton dress. This is great because it makes the dress hold it's shape nicely as well as preventing it from being see through. I wore this dress on Vacation for a day of exploring the shops. I loved that I could wear it casually to stroll the beach in the morning and then dress it up with sandals and a cute straw bag for the afternoon and evening! Another great feature of this dress is that it has adjustable straps, I'm not sure about you but I know I can't stand when straps are falling down or are too tight- these are able to be adjusted a significant amount allowing you to fit the bust area perfectly.

Gingham Swimsuit

Hi All!
Long time no talk! Life's been pretty crazy lately. Kyle and I just got back from vacation last night! It was so nice to disconnect for a week and relax by the ocean. We woke up every morning & got fresh mini donuts and ended each day with ice cream! I posted this swimsuit over on Instagram while we were away and I got so many questions about it! It's under $20 and so flattering! I've been so into one piece bathing suits lately as I feel so much more comfortable in them! It's funny though- the only part of me that's not tan is my stomach- it looks quite ridiculous! I'll be back to normal posting now so look out for some fun posts coming your way!

10 Easy Chicken Recipes

Hi All!
I've gotten a lot of questions about what I make using either a rotisserie chicken or an oven-baked chicken. I mentioned over on my Instagram that I usually buy a whole roasting chicken when they're on sale and cook it at the beginning of the week, then I use the chicken in my meals throughout the rest of the week. Below are 10 meals using cooked chicken. Some of these recipes are ones I've found on Pinterest and made numerous times and some are my own recipes. They're all delicious and fairly easy! Enjoy

1 // Oven Baked Chicken Tacos

I have made these more times than I can count! They're absolutely delicious and pretty foolproof to make. I will say these are on the spicier side so if you don't care for spicy foods use the normal taco seasoning vs. the hot and spicy kind! Click HERE for the recipe.

2 // Chicken Salad Wraps
Chicken salad is one of the best uses of cooked chicken. It's great to prepare it to have for lunches for the week! I like to serve it either on a wrap or large lettuce leaves. Adjust the amounts of ingredients based on the amount of chicken you use. Here is what I put in my Chicken Salad:
Chicken Salad:
Diced Chicken
Mayo - use enough to coat the chicken
Sliced Green Grapes
Ground Pepper
Garlic Powder

3 // Mushroom Risotto With Chicken

This dish is insanely delicious! Everyone I've made it for has loved it. This is great for a "fancier" at home meal as it is a little time consuming- but so worth it! I start with base Mushroom Rissoto recipe and then add about a cup of cooked diced chicken! Click HERE for the risotto recipe.

4 // Buffalo Chicken Tacos
Kyle loved this recipe so its man approved! It was a nice change from the typical tacos! I will say it is a very rich recipe & I could only eat one taco. Click HERE for the recipe.

5 // Chicken Avocado Burritos
These are one of my favorites! I love the blend of the creamy cheese & sour cream with the salsa! I serve these generally with my favorite cauliflower tots as a replacement for fries. Click HERE for the recipe.

6 // Chicken Caesar Salad

Pretty self-explanatory but I love chicken caesar salad. I'll either make up a large salad with fresh romaine hearts, parmesan, chicken, and caesar dressing or I'll make up the salad and put it into a wrap for a more filling meal. Either way, it's delicious and so easy!

7 // Chicken With Gravy
No recipe needed for this! I like to slice up some chicken, heat it, and serve it up with gravy, mashed potatoes and a veggie like green beans. Super easy and so delicious.

8 // Chicken Fried Rice
For this, you can cook up some white rice and then in a frying pan add a package of frozen veggies, 1 egg and then toss in some chicken & your rice and season with soy sauce, it's that easy! I usually use low sodium soy sauce as the normal is too salty for me.

9 // BBQ Chicken Pizza

This pizza is one of my favorites! I start by rolling out my pizza dough and then add BBQ sauce, fresh mozzarella, diced chicken, and sauteed red onions.

 10 // Chicken Cobb Salad

Cobb salads are a great use of chicken! I love this salad because it's so filling! You can pretty much add any ingredients you'd like but I love to add chicken, bacon, avocado, tomato, egg, and blue cheese crumbles. Yum!

What are your favorite uses for chicken?

Nicholle
