Hi All & Happy Holidays!
I decided to decorate my house early this year as there are just a few weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas. We had a snow day last week (so exciting!!) which means I didn't have to work (#teacherlife) so I spent the day decking the halls.
After some puppy dog eyes and pouting Kyle agreed that I could get a fake tree- much to his dismay. He insisted we go to every store that carries fake trees to find the best one. We searched high and low and compared all options and I found the PERFECT flocked tree for under $200!! It comes pre-lit and was so easy to assemble. What I also love about this flocked tree is that the flocking doesn't shed too much. I think the most important part of making a fake tree look good is the fluffing of the branches. We spent quite a while shaping the branches and bending them to give it a full look.
I decided to go with a traditional red and green "theme" for my decor this year. I love how it turned out and think it looks great against the white flocking. All of my ornaments were super affordable and are shatterproof! A definite must with pets or kiddos or clumsy people like me. The ornament set I purchased came with 50 standard ornaments. It made it so much easier to decorate the tree as I first placed those 50 ornaments then 10 larger ones and finally some mini ornaments. We did add a few of our special ornaments to the tree once the main ones were placed. I also added some picks to the tree of cranberries and pinecones- it added another fun colorful element in.
The fireplace is always one of my favorite places to decorate. I added new red bows this year as well as the red lanterns. It brings such a fun pop of color to the otherwise muted living room. I also added some red picks into my garland this year.
